Job Description Job Description We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in New Haven, Connecticut. In this contract-to-permanent role, you will play a vital part in managing financial operations for a non-profit organization. This position requires someone with strong attention to detail and expertise in federal grants and accounting processes. Responsibilities: • Oversee month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting. • Perform reconciliations for accounts and bank statements to maintain financial integrity. • Manage general ledger activities, including journal entries and adjustments. • Ensure compliance with federal grant requirements and regulations. • Utilize Sage software to streamline accounting operations and reporting. • Collaborate with team members to improve financial workflows and efficiency. • Prepare detailed financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. • Support audits by providing necessary documentation and insights. • Assist in identifying and resolving discrepancies within financial records.• Proven experience with month-end close procedures and general ledger management. • Proficiency in preparing journal entries and performing account reconciliations. • Familiarity with bank reconciliation processes and financial accuracy. • Knowledge of Sage software and its applications in accounting. • Experience working with federal grants and ensuring compliance. • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. • Excellent attention to detail and ability to identify discrepancies. • Effective communication skills for collaboration with teams and stakeholders.
