Job Description Job Description About the Role: The CNC
Programmer and Set Up Technician is a skilled manufacturing role
responsible for programming, setting up, and optimizing CNC
machining processes for precision components in a regulated
manufacturing environment. This position supports high quality
production by developing efficient machining strategies, improving
cycle times, and ensuring safe, repeatable, and capable processes.
The role works closely with engineering, quality, and production
teams and is ideal for an experienced Swiss screw machining
professional seeking a hands-on, impact driven position.
Responsibilities: Develop, program, and set up CNC machines to
support production and new manufacturing projects. Create CNC
programs for Swiss screw machines and optimize machining processes
for efficiency and quality. Select appropriate cutting tools, work
holding methods, and machining strategies for new and existing
jobs. Develop and validate machining processes for new product
introductions. Update, modify, and improve existing CNC programs
using modern cutting techniques and lean manufacturing principles.
Perform first piece inspections and deliver fully capable processes
to the production team. Troubleshoot CNC machine issues, tooling
problems, and program related errors. Train machine operators on
new setups, programs, and machining processes. Maintain quality,
safety, and process control standards throughout manufacturing
operations. Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production
teams to achieve operational goals. Qualifications: High school
diploma, GED, or trade school certification. Minimum of five years
of experience operating Swiss screw machines. At least three years
of CNC setup experience in a production environment. Minimum of two
years of CNC programming experience, including Swiss screw machines
such as Tornos. Strong understanding of CNC machining processes,
tooling, and work holding techniques. Ability to read and interpret
technical drawings and specifications. Experience passing first
article or first piece inspections and supporting production
handoff. Desired Qualifications: Experience with CAD and CAM
software such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD. Formal in house or external
machining and quality systems training. Familiarity with lean
manufacturing and continuous improvement practices. Strong problem
solving skills and ability to work in a fast paced, team oriented
manufacturing environment.
