Performs MI SPECT diagnostic imaging procedures on appropriate anatomical regions according to department procedures and protocolsLocates and records internal elements of the body, and identifies any anomalies indicative of disease, injury, or other medically significant conditionsAdjusts equipment and calms patient to eliminate test artifactsMonitors the patient for potentially dangerous physical and emotional changesEvaluates test results for clarity and accuracyReviews tests with peers and physicianInforms physicians of preliminary findings as requested according to department proceduresDistributes completed test results to physicians and service providersPrepares diagnostic information for physician interpretationMaintains patient charts, enters diagnosis and billing codes, logs data into patient information systems, and updates file systems for tests performedRecognizes equipment malfunctions and readjusts equipment or writes referrals for repairInstructs patients in pretest preparation, answers questions, and explains proceduresUnder guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocolsMaintains current Permits to Practice in all states in which services are performedPerforms equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team membersFollows quality assurance guidelines and maintains patient confidentialityPerforms additional duties as required Experience Required for Your SuccessRequired Experience:Clinical Nuclear Medicine Technologist background with a minimum of 3 years MI SPECT clinical experience requiredGraduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine technology programRequired License/Certification:Valid ARRT(N) license or NMTCBValid Nuclear Medicine licensePreferred Qualifications:Strong communication skills both written and verbal neededInteract with client personnel and team members in an autonomous responsible, professional and ethical mannerMust be flexible, reliable and demonstrate sound judgment and initiativeIn this role the successful candidate will function as a MI SPECT Technologist in performing examinations of patients of all ages for the purpose of assisting in the diagnosis of patient illness. Also will serve as a training resource.
