This person is responsible for assisting while providing exceptional care to patients with a variety of medical conditions.The Medical Assistant prepares patients for office visits, records patient's medical history, vital statistics and information such as test results in medical records. Prepares treatment rooms for patient examinations and keeping the rooms neat and clean. Clean and sterilize instruments and dispose of contaminated supplies. Prepare and administer medications as directed by a physician. Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician. Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets and physician's instructions to the patient. Collects blood, tissue or other laboratory specimens, log the specimens and prepare them for testing but not limited to phlebotomy, EKG's. Performs related duties as required.The Medical Assistant functions in a supportive role on the health care team to facilitate clinic workflow. The tasks vary according to the assignment - duties include clerical tasks as well as clinical. Clerical duties involving patient registration, discharge planning, scheduling, chart management and phone contact. The position is directed by the Registered Nurse for clinical functions and the Operations Supervisor for non-clinical functions. Requirements :+ Education : High School Diploma. + Certification : Medical Assistant certification required. Must also have current CPR certification. + Experience: Preferable 1 to 2 years experience in a medical office/hospital setting involving medical assisting and direct patient care + Ability to pass drug screenings and background checks Preferred Skills: + Experience : Good interpersonal skills, knowledge of outpatient routines and procedures, good judgement appropriate to assigned responsibilities, excellent customer service skills and good computer skills. Bi-lingual a plus.
