Job Description:
SCOPE OF POSITION: Under the general direction of the Director
of Radiology Services/Radiology Manager and/or Radiologist
responsible for the coordination and supervision of staff, as well
as technical quality of all diagnostic Ultrasound procedures.
Coordinate improving patient services through the application of
staff development, advanced techniques and new
equipment.RESPONSIBILITIES:Coordinate and oversee the daily work
flow of US operations including scheduling and assigning of US
staff. Monitor patient flow to ensure quality patient careAdjust
daily staffing levels in response to Ultrasound daily volumes and
productivity metricsSupervise US staff, monitor job performance,
and participate in disciplinary processDevelop and execute a
comprehensive scheduling and staffing plan for the US staff
Recommend bridge and staffing decisions and discuss with the
Director/ManagerProvide input and insight for the annual staff
performance reviews and discuss with the DirectorParticipate in the
hiring process; oversee and monitor orientation of new US staff and
oversee student placementProvide in-service training for US staff
in new procedures, software changes and additions to
protocolsMonitor inventory of supplies and order when necessary.
Keep abreast of new technology; research and evaluate new products
and equipment to ensure reliable, efficient and quality services;
make recommendations to managementMaintain accreditation status
with ACR standardsPrepare QA reports as required and forward
discrepancies directly to Clinical Engineering for corrective
actionParticipate in monthly Team Leader meetingsHold monthly staff
meeting and provide minutes in a timely mannerPerform Ultrasound
procedures as requiredAbility to disinfect all probes properly
according to manufacturer requirementsPerform other related duties
as requiredREQUIREMENTS:Advanced knowledge of Ultrasound technology
and procedures. Minimum of AS degreeOperating knowledge of
Ultrasound equipment and computer programming abilitiesAbility to
plan, implement and supervise all US section activitiesAbility to
interact and effectively communicate with all patients, staff,
hospital personnel and studentsKnowledge of blood borne pathogens
and universal precautionsGraduate of accredited program of
Ultrasound approved by the American College of Radiology (ACR), and
registered by the ARDMS and/or accredited by State/Federal
licensing programCertified through the American Society for
Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RDMS) as RDMS (OB or AB), RT(S), RT
(VS), RVT, or RVS). New Graduates must obtain RDMS certification
within one year of hire or within 24 months of their graduation
date, whichever is less.Certifications as RT (VS), RVT or RVS if
not achieved at the time of being hired must be achieved with in
one year.Must maintain all qualifications from the American College
of Radiology accreditation requirements for Ultrasound and/or RT(S)
continuing education requirements3 (three) years US experience
preferred, US registered in at least 3 ARDMS certifications or
obtained within 1 year from hireLocation: Waterbury Hospital
