Reporting to the Division Engineering Manager, this hands-on
Design Engineer role will take ownership of the tooling prints,
part prints, and process documentation. The scope of this job
includes supporting the production team in tooling design
improvements and process development improvements by trialing and
designing in a CAD environment and making adjustments and
improvements to implement the physical solution.
Design tools, gages and their details to be built, assembled and
developed for the manufacturing and checking of parts.
Prepare concepts, drawings and documentation to support
potential manufacturing improvements and incorporate design
decisions made during the design and development process.
Solicit and incorporate Toolroom and production personnel's tool
design or process requests assisting in debugging manufacturing
Maintain through documentation, making sure Engineering Change
Requests are fulfilled, routed properly, and all internal systems
are updated and maintained appropriately.
Follow through on field tests and develop new ideas as suggested
by the tests.
Monitor Toolroom and development activities on tool/process
designs in order to update drawings, improve future designs, reduce
project lead times, and drive to problem resolution.
Follow established engineering standards and procedures,
maintain those standards, and work with the engineering team to
continue to improve those standards
Check drawings for accuracy and conformance to standards.
Assist in development of tooling and manufacturing cost
Maintain regular contact with Toolroom, production and sales.
Provide design support for our customer service function
Perform other duties as assigned.
Bachelors Degree in Tool Design, Mechanical Engineering or other
relevant Engineering Degree
1-3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment,
internship experience included
Computer aided design experience; Solidworks and AutoCAD
Ability to work within a team environment
Strong problem solving skills, logical thinking
Ability to diagnose a problem and come up with a solution to fix
Knowledge and experience with transfer presses a plus
Knowledge of and experience utilizing advanced design techniques
