and social responsibility. The Associate Director of Youth & Family
Services at the West Morris Area YMCA creates a safe and positive
atmosphere that welcomes and respects all individuals while
promoting and maintaining safety in accordance with YMCA policies
and procedures. Qualifications Minimum of bachelor’s degree and 1
year of managerial or supervisory experience. Minimum of 5 years’
experience with working with children in a structured setting.
Bilingual is preferred. Basic understanding of youth development
principles. Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, Google Docs, and
Google Sheets. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to
communicate with all levels including staff, parents, and school
staff. Ability to problem solve and take initiative that adheres to
the purpose, mission, and goals of the YMCA. Ability to work as
part of a team, as a role model and take initiative to identify
potential risk factors and take measures to reduce them. First-Aid,
CPR and AED certification are required. Must complete CARI
Background Check, CHRI/Fingerprinting, provide proof of a Mantoux
test within two weeks of hire, and any additional training
requirements, as per the Office of Licensing and the West Morris
Area YMCA. Essential Functions 1. Ensure that programs are
following state regulations, licensing and meet YMCA best
practices. 2. Supervise classroom record keeping; keeping records
needed for planning, evaluation of the program and individual child
development. 3. Maintain and keep necessary documents and records
for the site state Licensing Book. 4. Maintain and support the
overall quality, safety, supervision of children and staff and
program components of the Preschool program. 5. Ensure that
programs are high-quality and meet the needs of the children and
families we serve. 6. In partnership with the Senior Youth Services
Director, interview, hire and train qualified staff for programs.
7. Assist Senior Youth Services Director with Site Visits and
coverage as needed for School Programs. 8. Serves as a leadership
role in the Summer Camp program during the summer months. 9. Always
maintain a professional manner with children, parents, co-workers,
and community. 10. Act in accordance with the YMCA philosophy,
program goals and objectives, and our policies and procedures. 11.
Have the ability to train staff on identifying child abuse/neglect
and act in accordance with YMCA, state, and local guidelines. 12.
Conduct staff meetings and staff training sessions. 13. Maintain
current CPR/AED and first aid certifications and ensure programs
staffs certifications are up to date. 14. Function as a resource
for all staff. 15. Perform other job-related duties as requested
and necessary. 16. Collaborates with Senior Youth Services Director
and Director of Youth Services. Cause-Driven Leadership
